BOOK REVIEW Christy Pastore's RETURN TO US

RETURN TO US
Christy Pastore
Released: February 22, 2018

I hate goodbyes. I'm not the type of reader who easily walks away from characters and stories that I love. Sadly, Christy Pastore has completed her Harbour Series trio. Gratefully, I do believe she left the very best for last!

A series of interconnected standalone books, The Harbour Series concludes with RETURN TO US.  The story of a high profile Hollywood couple, Matthew and Tinley, whose marriage is on the rocks. I admit to loving this story so much because it focuses on the marriage. The part of the happily-ever-afters in so many romance books readers don't always get to see. And when we do see it, life for the characters is often perfect. All problems and concerns were worked out in the previous book, so no need to find new issues. Ms. Pastore gives a fully developed, beautiful and, sometimes painful, look at a relationship built on love, but how over time, fears, insecurities, and uncertainty can damage that foundation.

The prologue of Return to Us is one of the best I've read, hands down. It's powerful and raw and doesn't just pull in the reader, but catches the attention and refuses to let go. The story is broken into two parts: before and after that heartwrenching beginning. Ms. Pastore created a story that won't be ignored. This was my first "wake up at 2 a.m. to keep reading" story in a very long time!
